Mystic Falls Virginia, a once quiet small town is alive again with the knowledge of its dark secrets. It once was the home to vampires and werewolves, and of course the oblivious humans. That time ended, but it was only for a short while. Now everyone has returned, and a battle raged between the three species, resulting in a forth. Lives were lost and gained because of the actions but nothing will ever be the same. Will the world collapse around them when the inhabitants of the town discover that they aren't the only reality?

Stefan has left with Klaus, his way of ensuring that his brother Damon will survive the bite. Katherine is stalking them from afar, not daring to get to close. Elena and Jeremy are trying to deal with the death of the last bit of family they had. With the arrival of the Originals everything is changing. Hybrids are popping up because Klaus has just found out what is needed in order to create them. But are they really what they appear to be, or something far more sinister? Can the 'good' guys find the secret weapon they need to end all of this?

At least that's the question that's on everyone's mind but it's not the truth of what's going on. The coffins haven't been opened and what started out as normal mirrors will one day become portals to an alternate reality. No one knows where they are, at least not yet, the first one having not been found. When it finally is found, the illusions of reality for those inside Mystic Falls will slowly start to crumble.
